NSS officers raiding Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

Armenian National Security Service (NSS) officers started searches at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on Friday morning, the Holy Struggle movement reported.

Unconfirmed reports circulating online earlier suggested that law enforcement officers also visited the headquarters of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Etchmiadzin.

At the time of the operation, Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, Primate of the Shirak Diocese, was reportedly present at the Mother See, attending a clergy assembly. The archbishop has been charged with making public calls for the usurpation of power.
